Izmir day one

Yesterday was a busy day yet we sat around the drop zone from 8:30 to around 2:30 and only did one jump. The weather was great but not enough people to fill the plane.:-( It was an amazing view the ocean was right there and behind the airport you could see the ruins it was the best way to see the view!
The drop zone was really nice and we met some very nice people. Most spoke english and the ones who didn't still tried to talk with us.
Here are the pictures of it but we don't have any of the view. Next time will be bring the camera helmet.

Awesome packing area with brand new floor

They have a food shop right inside. Kit fell in love with watermelon and cheese.

The landing area is right in front.

After the wind picked up we headed over to the city of ruins. It was so awesome to see, I took about 150 pictures so it will be hard to pick which ones to use.

The virgin Mary's house. They rebuilt most of it.

A small theater

The stone cravings were amazing. Most all of the sights you could walk up and touch.

I know, I know they say don't touch the cats but this one was so nice I wish I had food for it. She had two little kittens playing in the bush.

The picture below would have been a hallway inside a house it was small tiles and the design was beautiful.

This was I think both Kit and I's favorite one the pictures do not do it justice. The size was amazing, all the details in the stone were breath taking.

This was a Libaray.

We let an old Italian guy take our picture I knew if he tried to run away with my camera I would catch him.

The pictures below were the 3 statues on the front they were beautiful and very detailed.

This was the large theater, thought to be used for plays, meetings and gladiator fights. That is Kit way at the top in black.

This is standing outside looking in at the theater. Must of be a amazing site when it was full of people. Oh and free advertisement for skydive Mesquite.

Below is some of the grave tombs.

They say most of the city collapsed during an earthquake this building is just waiting for another one the blocks look like the wind could blow it down.

Like any other tourist trap at the end they had shops full of junk!

Kit playing with some toy drums.

Genuine fake watches! At least he does not lie.

Ok so after the ruins we headed into the town, where we are staying it is called Selcuk. It is a very nice small town lots of tourists. I ate the best thing I have had in Turkey so far it was a doner kabob it was different from the ones we have had in Adana, on Monday we will try to go back for another one and I will take a picture of it.
We also met a very nice women Juliet from New York, Kit actually took her picture at the ruins for her and we saw her again in town and talked she was full of wonderful advice on marriage and travel. It reminded me to take advantage of all the time we have.

Another heartbreaker this one was so sweet!!

This crane made an impressive nest on the top of some ruins. (I forgot it was on black and white when I took it.

Check back for pictures today we are going to try to rent mopeds to ride around on.
